Yiwen Zhang is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Laboratory for Child Brain Development. He originally hails from Binzhou, China. He received his B.S. in Psychology from Nanchang University in 2014 and his M.S. from the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017. Following his master's degree, he worked at Shanghai Mental Health Center investigating brain developmental abnormalities associated with social anxiety in adolescence. He completed his Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from East China Normal University in 2024. In his graduate research, Yiwen investigated the maturity of intrinsic brain networks, intelligence, and cognitive development in early school-aged children using novel naturalistic fMRI design
including multi-task animated movies. His current work in the Child Brain Lab focuses on using
multimodal neuroimaging methods to examine the neural mechanisms underlying atypical
emotional development in young children. This includes investigating structural developmental
abnormalities using DWI and exploring neural synchrony development using naturalistic paradigm
through fNIRS hyperscanning methods, with particular attention to related psychopathology.
