Predoctoral Research Associate

Claire Soogyeong Ju is a Predoctoral Research Associate at the Laboratory for Child Brain Development. Claire is currently a PhD candidate in the Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Development program at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on two questions: a) why do some children progress along positive developmental trajectories while others experience negative outcomes?, and b) how can we best facilitate children’s healthy development? She aims to address this inquiry by understanding child cognitive development as a protective factor against their socioemotional difficulties. Her recent work examines the relations among parent-child interactions, child cognition, and their socioemotional development. Through interdisciplinary studies encompassing behavioral, neuroscientific, and physiological evidence, she aims to deepen our understanding of at-risk children’s developmental dynamics and create opportunities for children to fulfill their potential.
